It also provided good value because of the measuring cup and spoon provided. I shipped this to Iraq (via USPS APO) along with some bags of Jasmine Rice, Pouches of Chicken breast meat, Cans of Coconut Milk and baby corn, an envelope of "Taste of Thai" peanut sauce mix, and my recipe for "Chicken and Baby Corn in peanut sauce over jasmine rice" (which as you might imagine involved mixing and heating everything but the rice, then dumping it over the rice.) IT WAS A HUGE HIT, and it's not like these knuckleheads (I say that with all due fondness and respect) can cook. So bottom line, this thing would be... I seem to be the only rice eater in this family and this unit fits my needs perfectly!Very little wasted rice in the end (if any) and it's great and fast if you only need to cook one or two servings. You can cook the short grain (sticky) rice but it makes a mess on the outside of the unit (makes it sticky) from the steam that comes out of the unit while cooking. Other than that, it works pretty good. Now for my secret on how to cook ONE SERVING: I use the scoop that comes with it. One scoop of uncooked rice (which is about 3/4 of a cup) wash thoroughly, add 1-1/4 scoop of water (about 1 cup). If you have a power level on your microwave, set it to 7 and cook it... It was "accidentally" sold at a moving sale, so I went online to replace it when I settled into my new place. From the picture I wasn't sure if it was the same thing (different color), but thankfully it is! I love the convenience and the rice always comes out perfect. I also cook my quinoa in it and it comes out great. |
